wheatgrass and coffee soap!

k, i know i keep saying this.. lol but THIS is my favorite bar of soap. lol. no really, i love it so much. this is one that i am certain bodygoodies will always have. its really a perfect bar. wheatgrass and coffee? can you really go wrong? spearmint to top it off. i think i will try different variations of this bar... different tops .. such as a pink one colored with red yam powder, a yellow one, a blue one...... all using natural colorants, that just so happen to be beneficial to your skin. but always the same theme. i love the way the lil dots look like moons in a landscape. i love the scrubby bottom layer, and the smooth calming top layer. hands down, my favorite bar of soap yet. cant wait to make more like this one.

lol so.. this is parker.. after i snapped a couple of pics of him looking totally hilarious all covered up inside the pillow case.. he decided to poke his head out and see what was going on... how funny is he?

haha

this is our dog parker, you wouldnt know it really.. being you cant see his head lol.. this is what he does when hes cold. he somehow manages to find the slit in the back of a pillow case we leave in his pen for him. he gets himself all tucked up in there like a sleeping bag. its always a little funny, today was particularly funny tho, he sat there like that for about 15 mins, and was biting at nina through the pillowcase because she was investigating the odd looking moving pile of cotton that strangely took over parkers pen lol

mmm grungy

so.. this is my grungy grubby soap. i dunno what it reminds me of but i love it. i have yet to cut it.. but i think its gonna be a favorite of mine. i was gonna do two batches today, one all natural and one with fragrance oil, at the last minute, i decided to just throw caution to the wind and mix it all up. this batch is scented with spearmint essential oil and nag champa fragrance oil. not exactly a mix youd think to put together, but think.......... hippie chewing wrigleys. lol. hippie? hippy? whatevah. mixed in some earthy things like icelandic moss, irish moss, atlantic kelp powder.. gotta go easy on that one tho or you end up with a super good for you bar of soap that unfortunately smells like youre scrubbing yourself with dead fish. -- not kidding...dont ask me how i know, ill need therapy if i think about it too much. also in here, is some ground up lime peel and a little bit of cocoa powder just to give it that extra lil grubbiness. seperated the batch into 3, one part is the champa, moss powders.. one part kelp spearmint, and part i left plain with just the lime peel in it.. put all three parts in kinda thick so they would stay a bit separate and then swirled em together with a spatula so they didnt get a chance to fully mix together. then i topped off the top with tiny chunks of nag champa bits of scraps from my "dig" batch. .....im kinda psyched about this one.. cant wait to try it out...also used sweet almond oil in it, which i havent done yet, omitted the butters i typically use and put a bit of beeswax in there. hmm.. a new one for me :)
im sure ill be posting pics of the finished product asap!

pop-e

mm this is a nice one.. rosemary, peppermint tea and poppyseed. i love the way this bar turned out, it gelled really really well and turned out a super nice hard bar of great smelling soap. not for those of you who like those cake and choc smelling things.. this is one of those bars of soap that you KNOW is gonna get ya clean and youll smell like you just took a shower, not fell in a pot of cake batter. its got some great astringent and medicinal properties.. so.. for all you problematic skin types out there... this is the one for ya. super softening butters, super healing rosemary and mint tea, and some nice lil scrubbiedubber poppyseeds. :)

everyone wants to eat soap!

ok so not really, but everyone who sees my soaps.. first reaction is to want to eat it lol.. i guess thats sorta a good thing, right? maybe it has something to do with the fact that i cut them in big thick square chunks, that makes them seem like a bakery dessert or brownie etc..? i personally like them cut that way tho.. eh, lol hence, why i DO cut them that way. whoever was it anyways, that decided soaps should be rectangle? my soaps feel so comfy to hold... a big chunk of soap that fits perfectly in your hand makes sense to me. hmm.. anyways.. this soap.. is a lil bit of an experiment for me.. i put ginger powder in the white part, and annato in the orange layer, both will be a super mild exfoliant and also, beneficial to the skin :) scented it with.. top layer, grapefruit essential oil and orange essential oil, white layer.. ylang-ylang. all together its SUCH a great scent. and.. best of all... all natural.
tonight ive prepared for my soap making tomorrow. steeped some blueberry tea and lecithin some dandelion and a few others, made a nice deep purple water base for my lye solution. going to mix it through some soap tomorrow, dunno if im gonna do a solid colored bar, or maybe a angled layer. havent decided yet....... nor have i decided what to scent it. im thinking rosemary lavendar... tho, i could go a completely different route and make it smell crisp and earthy. argh, i just cant decide. im also thinking, some lil bits of tea leaves as an exfoliant throughout that might be nice. blah.. its almost always a last minute decision for me...... guess ill know tomorrow. until then........... mad scientist.out.

yep, theres me snickering in the background. lol.. so as i suspected, mom was right. we stood around for an hour waiting for the service to begin, during that time.. troy woke up just a little bit... and i found out not only was he hung over, he didnt go to bed until 6 cause he was playing halo. lol.. and.. dad also, woke him with a SPOTLIGHT in his face. not a flashlight, but a spotlight! omg, id have been sooooo ticked off. i calmly walked over to dad, and said hey.. its a good thing no one got mad at us for interrupting the ceremony cause we came in late huh. lol.. he looked a bit embarrassed. anyways, poor troys day just got worse and worse, he also didnt know we would all be going to aunt leslies house after the service.... bummer. lol but yes.. believe it or not, it even gets worse than that... the snow storm that was due to hit tonight? decided to start at about 330 pm! we left aunts house around 4ish, and what should have been a 20 minute drive, ended up taking an hour and 20 mins!!! why? oh because every single car on the road was driving 10-20 mph and sliding all over the place. dad ... in the benz.. well... the benz isnt exactly the best winter car yanno.. lol.. so not only was it a long hour and 20 mins, but a white knuckle one as well. knew i should have driven. grrr. however, i might have had a small panic attack, and i must say...... dad got us all home very safely. hes ace when it comes to driving :) hehe.. thanks dad!

i had a very entertaining day, oddly enough, such a sad day, was filled with laughter. i cracked up the whole way home, despite being completely terrified.. i couldnt stop laughing at what a riot my family is. got troy in the front seat messing with the dragonfire defroster setting on the car, mom yelling at dad from the backseat next to me every time he would look over at troy when troy would talk, mom would yell " you dont have to look at him, keep your eyes on the road!!" .. mom rattling off which ways dad should take to get home, dad totally not listening and doing his own thing, then ending up taking the way mom said to in the first place. dad hard braking to slide around on the riad a bit for fun.. troy telling him not to do that and he wont slide.. lol dad saying hes not doing it... dad giving the car gas and sliding more.. troy saying dont do that and it wont slide.. dad saying he has to or the car wont move.. lolol..troy still messing with the heater, mom putting the window down cause it was so hot in the car, snow flying back onto me when troy would put his down, mom still smacking her arms about in the air every time dad would take his eyes off the road.. and i ? i just kinda sat there falling more in love with my crazy family. :)

Lol

Ill be back later to fix all the t 9 errors in the previous post.

Stop

So. Me dad and troy are on our way to my uncles funeral. I should be in the back seat feeling pretty sad. But im strangely laughing my ass off. Mom and aunt shelly are in shellys car, which i should have gone in but i felt bad for troy having to be with dad alone in dads current mood. Rushed, impatient, pissed off to name a few. Troy is hung over, lol i asked him what he did last night and he said he cant even talk yet. Lol so hes feeling a bit rough. Dad is whizzing in and out of traffic at about 120 mph. To make it worse for troy, hes got stevie nicks blaring on the radio and the heat on dragon. I cant help but to sit here laughing. The reason dad is flipping out? He says the funeral starts at noon, mom says 1. Mom is usually right. Dad will be embarrassed when we get there and realize we are the only ones there.

ahh.. whip balm. this stuff rocks.

made two batches, one with coffee butter the other with shea.
the coffee one is a bit more oily after its on, as the coffee butter is naturally more oily than shea. it smells awesome , natrually scented like coffee. i made a plain batch, with honey in it for sweetness, and then one with peppermint and cinnamon combined, for a warming tingly balm.

then, with the shea balm, i made plain, with honey. then a peppermmint and honey, and then a peppermint honey shimmer. i REALLY like the whipped stuff.

i think im also gonna do a whipped body balm in larger tins, without honey :)

so, ive got a couple of balms here, solid balms. but i think for bodygoodies, we'll do whip balm.its so much nicer to use. got a peppermint, cinnamon, and honey balms here.

winterbar

turned out real nice also. nice subtle lil bits of glitter you can barely see. only when the light hits it right.. and its not overloaded and obnoxious. the peppermint scent is delightful! looks like a chunk of white chocolate.. kinda feels like it too lol

oh i so love

this soap turned out great. i cant wait to watch it cure over the next couple of weeks and see the final result. as of now.. i absolutely love it. it smells wonderful too. i think im gonna roll up the cut off edges and make a white bar with choc dots now lol.. swore to myself i wasnt gonna make soap today but uhh... i kinda need to now. :">

great balls of soap?

i just cant stop today!
so, i figured id give the whole "soap balls" thing a whirl while i notsopatiently wait for the winterbar and choc-a-dot batches to harden up. lol.. so at first i kinda thought the whole soap balls thing was kinda stupid.. but you know, i actually like them. they look like little planets or smooth rocks or something. i hate the way rebatched soap looks, so this is a perfect little out for all of my little scraps. i was trying to imagine them displayed in a bathroom. how, what deco style, etc.. and you know the more i thought about it, i realized how versatile they can be. i can so picture them in a rustic or country bathroom, totally see them in a contemporary, and even in elegant. kinda cool lil balls lol. heh, just the word makes me laugh. put 3-5 of em in a soap dish and scent the bathroom with a lil style. i like that :)

its kinda funny to me, that all of my life ive never been a soap person. well, not solid soap anyways. and now? im feeling a little obsessed! :">
